NSS - National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme constituted under the aegis of "Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India."

Department of N.S.S is one of the largest and oldest departments in Seth Narsingdas Mor College of Arts & Commerce & Smt. G. D. Saraf Science College, Tumsar. Department of National Service Scheme (N.S.S) established in June 1972 and affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur. Seth Narsingdas Mor College of Arts & Commerce & Smt. G. D. Saraf Science College, Tumsar is situated in the Small town in Bhandara district. Itis 35 km. away from Bhandara city, due to lack of Social culture most of students notparticipate in Social activity that’s why most of the students which admitted to this college are mostly Non-Volunteer, but our department encourage them to take partin the social activity and provide guidance from basic to advance skills to the Volunteer and after the much hard work of our Volunteer college teams given remarkable performances in all the Activity of N.S.S., Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University Activity’s. Many students represented state and university level Camp. Our college is having all the necessary N.S.S. facilities in the college premises including Indoor Hall.

We conducted monthly practice sessions for the volunteer in sessions various activity such as leadership programme, cleanliness activity. Our college is conducted in two practice sessions monthly, students’ practices in afternoon as the students are coming to college from various deep parts of the region & bus facilities are limited for the various places.

Main objectives of NSS are :
  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and,
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.
